Co-founder of Thread Counseling Group | Author | Speaker | Consultant

I am a mental health therapist, author, speaker, and former graduate professor with over a decade of experience specializing in parent engagement and play therapy.

In addition to the counseling services I provide at the private practice I co-founded in Dallas, my expertise lies in working directly with parents. I have written extensively on this topic including several peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters that train counselors, educators, and counselors in training how to effectively support parents, Middle Eastern children and families, and preservice teachers. Additionally, I was selected through Psychology Today to author a blog titled Nobody Knows What They are Doing where I offer real-world insights into parenting from the perspective of a former “child expert humbled by parenthood”.

Currently, I am authoring a forthcoming textbook with Routledge, Working with Parents: A Resource Guide for Play Therapists- a practical, real-world guide for clinicians who want to deepen their work with caregivers and build stronger parent-therapists partnerships.

As a speaker and consultant, I have been invited to present at local, national, and international conferences, as well as at schools, parent events, and corporate settings. Whether working with mental health professionals, educators, or parents directly, I bring a practical, compassionate, and research-informed approach to every conversation. I’m passionate about helping organizations and professionals create more parent-inclusive practices that lead to real, lasting change for children and families.
